Bridal, Deepika Padukone & Neha Dhupia | (Source: Instagram | @bridesofsabyasachi, @nehadhupia)

We’re getting major FOMO or I guess the better-coined term for this would be ROMO—the reality of missing out. With all the upcoming wedding festivities being cancelled or postponed due to this global pandemic we’re missing those parties something fierce. I know, most of us might be missing the enjoyment of shopping for our perfect guest appearances or getting decked out and dancing the night away. So, I thought why not take a walk down memory lane and take a look at some amazing bridal styles favoured by our iconic B-town celebs on their special day.

Bollywood has always inspired Indian fashion for decades, especially bridal outfits, whether it be in the movies or reality. A lot of us look up to our favourite actresses for inspiration for our own upcoming nuptials and pin ideas to our Pinterest broad. From the ever-elegant Madhuri Dixit to more recent modern brides like Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra these beauties always make amazing fashion choices. Whether it be more subtle pieces from the ’90s or more vibrant looks in recent years, bridal fashion has definitely had an evolution. However, some pieces really create a style statement and continue to be iconic to this day.

Keep scrolling to check out some beautiful B-town celeb bridal looks below:

Then:

1. Kajol Devgan

In 1999, one of Bollywood’s favourite and most endearing couples, Kajol and Ajay Devgan, got married in a low-key ceremony. Looking like a Maharashtrian queen, she wore a forest green, nauvari sari, draped in the kashti style. This was complemented with her traditional jewellery that consisted of a nath, armlet and matching set of green bangles.

2. Madhuri Dixit Nene

While we don’t have Madhuri’s intimate wedding photos we did find one of her in her gorgeous reception dress. The famous Dhak Dhak girl looks beautiful and elegant in her gold and peachy pink ghagra-choli. While her outfit might seem very vintage now it was a popular look back then. And to no ones surprise, of course, Madhuri carried it off with so much grace and elegance and looking no short of a million bucks!

3. Twinkle Khanna

In 2001, Twinkle married her Khiladi, Akshay Kumar in a quick and quiet ceremony. The daughter of yesteryear stars, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia who barely had any time to plan the wedding went for a red and gold salwar kameez. Radiating like a new bride in this image she looks ethereal in her understated ensemble and modest jewellery, where the statement piece was her lovely mang tikka.

4. Karisma Kapoor

All of Karisma’s wedding outfits were designed by Manish Malhotra who was a lot of brides’ favourite designer by this time. She ditched the traditional red bridal colours and opted for a baby pink lehenga thus standing out from her contemporary brides that year. Her lehenga was intricately embroidered and paired with beautiful diamond-studded jewellery and a mang tikka that dazzled. But the cherry on top was the traditional nathini that just elevated the entire look. She looked so effortless.

5. Raveena Tandon

In 2004, Raveena got married in a traditional Punjabi Khatri and Sindhi style wedding that looked evidently like a lavish wedding. She dazzled in a maroon, velvet lehenga that was originally her mothers and reworked by designer Manav Gangwani. While she stuck to traditional colours, what truly stood out was the blinding gold threads and semi-precious stones on her long-sleeved choli. This ensemble was a definite style statement! Plus, let’s not forget that she literally was a queen on her wedding day. She sat in a 100-year-old palanquin that carried the Queen of Mewar. Now that’s how you make an entrance!

6. Aishwariya Rai Bachchan

One of the bigger Bollywood weddings of the last decade, the Bachchan wedding was definitely the talk of the town. Staying true to her roots, Aishwariya wore a golden, yellow Kanjeevaram saree designed by Neeta Lulla. Though native to a South Indian wedding in style, the saree had an ornate, coloured border complete with Swarovski crystals and gold thread work. Looking like royalty, she paired the saree with matching gold jewellery and kept her hair in a braided bun with gajra as most Mangolorian brides do. This a regal look for sure with a saree style that is still popular to date.

Now:

7. Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena looks gorgeous in almost everything that she wears, but on her wedding day, she truly looked magical. Officially the Begum of the Pataudi Khandan after her marriage to Saif Ali Khan, Kareena shone in her mother in law—Sharmila Tagore’s wedding gharara. This is a family heirloom that originally belonged to Saif’s grandmother and was expertly redone and touched up by designer Ritu Kumar.  The golden coloured gharara style dress and heavy gold jewellery give a very regal and sophisticated air to Kareena on her wedding day making her look even more the perfect Pataudi bride.

8. Preity Zinta

Keeping it true to her Indian roots at heart, Preity looks exquisite in her favourite designers’ red lehenga. Manish Malhotra designed Priety’s vibrant lehenga with gold embroidery detailing and royal motifs on the border for her special day. Paired with a Borla, Polki jewels and understated makeup, this look is a great inspiration for modern brides going down the more simple yet elegant and traditional route for their weddings.

9. Anushka Sharma

One of the many popular celeb Sabyasachi brides on our list, Anuskha’s bridal wear is still a popular one many try to emulate to date. Her gorgeous pale, pink coloured lehenga with embellished lotus motifs is absolutely breathtaking and very romantic. It suits Anushka perfectly, making her look like a blushing bride. The matching jewellery also from ace wedding couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee, really complimented her entire look without being too overwhelming.

10. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja

It seems 2018 was the year of major celeb weddings. Starting with the fashion-forward Sonam Kapoor. Needless to say, everyone was super excited to see what she would choose for her wedding to, beau Anand Ahuja. Sonam finally surprised all of us and chose a gorgeous classic red lehenga, covered with intricate gold embroidery from Anuradha Vakil. She completed her entire look with a pearl headpiece plus vintage jewellery and topped it all off with some Jimmy Choo heels.

11. Neha Dhupia

One of the more low-key weddings of all Bollywood actresses in recent years. Done by couturier Anita Dongre, Neha’s fresh, pastel pink lehenga vibed perfectly for her simple daytime ceremony. It was an elegant and lightweight blush creation that was made using rich silk fabric. It comprised of a choli with elbow-length sleeves and a voluminous skirt and sheer dupatta with a mint green border.  She kept her lehenga and makeup soft and understated, but her jewellery choices were much more striking. She wore a choker known as the princess necklace around her neck. Matching jhumkas, maang tikka teamed with red chooras completed her entire outfit. A mesmerizing yet understated look that makes an impact on your big day!

12. Deepika Padukone

Our next popular Sabyasachi bride on the list is Deepika who had two special wedding ceremonies. For her Konkani ceremony, Deepika opted for a dull gold and red Kanjivaram, traditional silk saree with woven gold threads from The House of Angadi. Paired with layered necklaces and matha Patti, she made for an elegant South Indian bride.

While for the Sindhi ceremony she wore a Sabyasachi creation in red and gold paired with some striking Polki jewellery which really made her whole look shine. The bridal dupatta and lehenga were covered in a very intricate and detailed embroidery. A fantastic traditional look that made her look like the epitome of a Northern bride.

13. Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Priyanka is another bride who favoured two major designers for her wedding ceremonies. The first was a Ralph Lauren‘s special custom creation for her catholic ceremony.  The only word I can say for this dress is wow! This full-sleeved, white lace gown with a sheer top panel is something special for sure. It consisted of 135 satin covered buttons, mother of pearl paillettes, Swarovski crystals and a veil that went on for miles! A key detail sown in was a piece of her mother-in-law’s wedding dress.

While Priyanka had many gorgeous outfits for her festivities her Sabyasachi lehenga was the standout stunner! The vibrant, glittering, red lehenga choli looked stunning against her complexion and a bright red lip. The entire ensemble was embellished with crystals, hand-cut organza flowers, silk floss French knots and Siam-red crystals. But let’s not forget the fabulous Mughal jewellery that featured diamonds, emeralds, and pearls in 22 karat gold all by Chopard and Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery. A very delicate yet striking ensemble that made her look like a dream on this special day. Two show-stopping dresses for a show-stopping bride!

On World Book Day today, Alia Bhatt had all the ‘Potterheads’ thrilled and excited when she took to her social media to share that she is hooked to JK Rowling‘s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. But, little did we fans know that the actress had something surprising in store for us. On Thursday, the Raazi actor announced her association with the ‘Harry Potter At Home’ initiative. She took to Instagram to make the declaration and shared a video of her reading the eighth chapter from the book.

Alia’s caption read—

Two months ago Harry, Hogwarts, and the wizarding world walked into my life and almost immediately, in my heart. Somehow, when I was younger life always intervened and I never quite got around to befriending the books.

Have a look at the video here:

In her caption, she also proclaimed her love for the Gryffindor house (It’s my favourite too!) by saying — “10 million points to Gryffindor!”. Gryffindor is one of the four houses of the Hogwarts School of witchcraft around which the narrative of the book revolves.

Daniel Radcliffe, who played the character of the spectacled wizard Harry Potter in all the eight movies, is one of many celebrities who are reading the book for the viewers amid the lockdown. Apart from him, the other chapters are being recited by other actors from the wizarding world including Claudia Kim and Eddie Redmayne from “Fantastic Beasts” and Noma Dumezweni (who portrayed Hermione Granger in the Broadway show “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”).

Celebrities who are fans of the Harry Potter series, namely David Beckham and Dakota Fanning, will also be taking part in this initiative. The chapters of the book will be broadcasted on a weekly basis on the Wizarding World website and also on Spotify.

Now that’s an exciting piece of news we all needed in these times!

How To Style An All-White Outfit: Bollywood Edition

All-White Ensembles | (Source: Instagram | @alliaalrufai, @tarasutaria, @tanyaghavri)

If not for any other colour, white is one hue that everybody has in their wardrobes. It’s apt for a plethora of occasions and is an all-rounder at being season-friendly. Even the monsoons I’d say, except that you have to be supremely careful. What’s more, the colour is as versatile as it gets when it comes to making an impression. Either subtle hints or going all out and picking all-white, the hue is impactful in its own way! But when it comes to Bollywood celebrities, they never really miss a moment to make a fashionable impact. Be it by ways of styles, trends or colours. And if there’s one hue that almost every celebrity has turned to, to make a statement, it’s your pristine white!

From casually making airport checks, making appearances at award functions, and attending festivities, all-white outfits have a wide bandwidth for occasions. Think pantsuits and skirt-suits, tracksuits, co-ord sets to bridal lehengas even. Our Bollywood babes give you ample inspiration on how to grab eyes with this universal hue. If you need some cues on how to make it work for you, look no further than our trusted and fashionable Bollywood stars.

Ahead, we show you 10 celebrities that give a nod to all-white ensembles:

1. Shraddha Kapoor

For promotional rounds of her film Sahoo, Shraddha Kapoor wore this lustrous, all-white creation by Tommy Hilfiger. The halter neck blouse featuring a sharp slit teamed with a pair of boot-cut trousers look smart and chic in equal parts.

2. Alaya F

There’s nothing like a well-fitted skirt-suit that screams boss lady! Picking an all-white blazer set by Nirmooha, Alaya F looked boardroom chic in this tweed ensemble for her promotional activities of Jawaani Jaaneman. Notice how she wore a bralette to wear under the blazer? It instantly transforms her otherwise formal pick into a party-ready ensemble!

3. Alia Bhatt

For her flight back to the bustling city of Mumbai, Alia ensured her airport look was comfy, cosy and cool. So, she picked an all-white tracksuit by Tommy Hilfiger. Further upping the monotony of the look and still grabbing eyeballs, she teamed her outfit with chunky white sneakers and white-framed sunnies! A lesson on how to make a statement even in casual-wear.

4. Deepika Padukone

As she jet-setted to Lake Como to exchange her vows last year, Deepika was spotted wearing an all-white coordinated set that I can’t seem to get over. Looking like a vision in white, the actress donned a loose turtle neck over a pencil skirt featuring a side-slit.

5. Ananya Panday

A slight alteration to the pantsuit is Ananya’s outfit by Bhaayva. Falling under the sartorial category of desk-to-drinks, Ananya wore her bralette and furry blazer with a pair of asymmetric culottes. Don’t you just love how the fabric of the jacket adds a quirky spin to the monotonous look?

6. Tara Sutaria

Don’t shy away from trying an all-white colour palette for festivities, take a cue from Tara who’s wearing a Gaurav Gupta creation. Give the bright and bold hues a break and add fresh shades of white to your traditional wardrobe to stand out in the crowd!

7. Katrina Kaif

White can take you through a variety of events and works just well even on red carpets. Even if you don’t accessorise much, or wear self-toned shoes, you’ll still be turning heads. Just like Katrina Kaif in this Alex Perry gown. Favourite elements of the dress: the dramatic, plunging neckline, thigh-high slit and the bishop sleeves.

8. Sonakshi Sinha

I will never get over my love for white kurta sets. Wearing Ikai by Ragini Ahuja, Sonakshi’s outfit has an equal balance of elegance and sophistication. And what’s more, a good, white kurta set ticks both the sartorial categories of casual and formal wear!

9. Parineeti Chopra

A pantsuit in a white hue will guarantee you a sartorial dominance in a crowd. Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Parineeti look like lady-boss in this all-white, satin pantsuit from Tommy Hilfiger x ZendayaEven without any accessories, the actress looks charming and powerful all at the same time.

10. Anushka Sharma

Catching a flight but not sure how to style yourself? Look to your basics and go for a colour-coordinated outfit to elevate your look. And it’s honestly as easy to put together as it sounds. Let Anushka’s super simple yet chic airport look give you tips. The actress wore a white t-shirt and white trousers by Massimo Dutti and teamed it with white Puma sneakers while she strutted her way at the terminals.

TTop Alia Bhatt Looks 2019, Alia Bhatt| (Source: Instagram | @stylebyami, @aliaabhatt)

In the last few years, Alia Bhatt has become one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood. The daughter of director Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan has made a meteoric rise to fame and become a style icon in her own right. Over the years, much like her craft, her sense of style and fashion has evolved. With the past year including some of her most iconic looks to date.

We can’t help but envy Alia’s style! With the help of pro celeb stylists like Ami Patel, Sanjay Kumar Dauhaliya and Lakshmi Lehr (from Style Cell whom she works with most often), she easily slays literally any look—whether it be traditional or experimenting with more unconventional ensembles. While she looks fabulous even in sweats, one thing to note would be her consistent love of feminine silhouettes and keeping things simple, clean and fresh—including her makeup! She’s also become every big-named designer’s delight like Prabal Gurung, Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherji and more. We’ve listed some of her top looks for 2019 and TBH it was really tough to narrow it down with so many fabulous looks in her archive!

Keep scrolling to check out our favourite looks of Alia Bhatt from the last year:

1. A Pop Of Colour

Alia looks gorgeous in this off-white dress by Jonathan Simkhai. Worn for the Gully Boy trailer launch, it’s a fun and chic look with interesting details like the handkerchief hem and what seems to be cut off shirt sleeves. The pair of orange booties really adds a pop of colour which completes the entire look, making it more fun and youthful.

2. Chic Street Style

Check out those black chunky sneakers! Alia looks the epitome of casual chic in this outfit, during radio trails. The vinyl, leather joggers and chunky, platform kicks paired with her simple crop-top, really add some edge to her street-style look. This is a super trendy look that was emulated a lot in all of 2019.

3. Graphic Pantsuit

This Moschino pantsuit truly makes a statement with its graphic print. A standout and unconventional piece, that turns heads and fits Alia like a glove. Perfectly paired with some classic white pumps and little to no jewellery or accessories, the suit does all the talking.

4. Embellished Galactic Gown

How exquisite is Alia in this Ralph & Russo Couture dress! The galactic, starry embroidery detail is beautiful and is paired wonderfully with her Smokey eye and a nude lip. A winning look, in which Alia took home the Best Actress award at the Filmfare Awards.

5. Vibrant Yellow Lehenga

This almost fluorescent, solid yellow lehenga by Sabyasachi is just wow! Paired with statement jewellery and a diamond choker by Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery and a gold bag, Alia looks vibrant and stunning. And as always, with her makeup and hair perfectly on point, they round out the entire look.

6. Nude Romantic Gown

One of Alia’s best outfits to date, this gorgeously romantic grown is super feminine, soft and flowy. A more minimal look overall, this nude number by Georges Chakra and messy braid makes her look like a Greek goddess of our dreams.

7. A Neon Chartreuse Dream

Shades of neon greens and yellows literally dominated fashion circles in spring and summer of 2019.  Not to be left behind, Alia embraced this vibrant trend with a sense of sophistication and class, for the 69th Annual Berlinale International Film Festival, in a custom neon green gown by Prabal Gurung. And don’t forget to soak in at that elegant trail at the back!

 8. Glamour & Style

Pink is definitely her colour! She looks super glam in this pink and black ensemble by Celia Kritharioti. The outfit consisted of a ruffled, high-waist skirt and strappy bustier that fell off her shoulders. A thigh-high slit added some oomph and sex appeal to the otherwise quite soft girlish gown.

9. Printed Elegance

I think it’s become quite apparent that over the years that Alia Bhatt can slay traditional attire as well as a modern mix. She is emulating all grace and elegance in this ruffled Sabyasachi saree and strapless blouse paired with a belt for a more Indo-Western look.

10. Colour Blocking Trend

Alia nails the colour-blocking trend in this play pink and coral look, with a one-shoulder blouse and flared trousers by designer Safiyaa. Teamed with a pair of gold heels and luminous makeup she looks effortlessly fresh, glowy and ready to party.

11. Sequins Fun

Not for the faint of heart, this green ruched, sequinned skirt really stands out from the crowd. A perfect outfit for the music launch of Gully Boy, this entire ensemble with fringe and ruffle detailing is super glam and fun! Paired with a colourful satin tube top, also by the Italian designer, Giuseppe di Morabito and strappy sandals it’s a striking look that makes you want to dance the night away.

Sushant Singh Rajput‘s unfortunate death by suicide has created a wave of unrest among all of us. While this did lead to the realisation that mental health is a serious concern, it also triggered a lot of actors and members of the industry to narrate their own traumatic experiences.

Vivek Oberoi is one such actor who came forward to mourn Sushant’s death and said that he knows what it would have felt like. Vivek penned a heartfelt note on his social media after attending Sushant’s funeral. In this note, he raises a strong case against the ones who are often addressed as the “gate-keepers of Bollywood“. He says it is time that the film fraternity truly acts like a family where “talent is nurtured, not crushed“. Vivek hints at how there is power play, bitching and ego trips among the industry folk which needs to go.

Though he has never worked with Sushant, it seems like he felt a strong connection with what he must have experienced. He says, “I’ve been through my own journey of pain, it can be very dark and lonely.” But he voices that suicide cannot be the answer.

Have a look at his post:

Apart from Vivek, a handful of Sushant’s co-stars and friends attended his funeral including Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Ranvir Shorey. Director Abhishek Kapoor and wife Pragya Kapoor and casting director Mukesh Chhabra were also present.

Saif Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput (Source: Instagram | @sushantsinghrajput)

The film industry is in a grim state right now, as they are coming to terms with actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death by suicide. While a lot of them are mourning the loss of a friend and colleague, the audiences on social media are also lashing out at the industry folk for not being true and genuine with him in the past.

This has also led a lot of actors and members of the industry to come out and speak up against the many atrocities by the so-called ‘gatekeepers of Bollywood’. Amidst all this, in an interview with Times Of India, Saif Ali Khan came forward to speak about how the industry is very cut-throat and that most people don’t care about the rest. He says that people mourning Sushant’s death now, when they didn’t care about hime earlier, is hypocrisy at its best. He feels that silence in such situations is better than the ‘outpouring of love’.

Speaking about the way social media works, he says that it is a day and age where “people write 10 lines for you on Twitter and will walk past you on the street – won’t even touch you or shake your hand.” He also spoke about how it is manipulative to make this about Bollywood lobbies and games.

Talking about his daughter Sara Ali Khan‘s reaction, he says that she is extremely shocked and upset about it. She had worked with Sushant in her debut film, Kedarnath, and Saif mentions that she has always described him as an intelligent and good-looking guy.

Sushant Singh Rajput‘s untimely demise has created unrest among audiences on social media and in the film industry. While social media has become a ho

t-pot of blame games and hatred, the mainstream media and news houses have been pulled out for being insensitive towards the deceased as well as his family and friends.

This comes after excessive media coverage and intrusion of the photographers at his funeral. This really upset actress and his close friend, Kriti Sanon. She was firstly called out for not posting anything on her social media to mourn Sushant’s death. Later, during his funeral, she had cameras being shoved at her face, asking for a comment. Kriti took to her social media today to share all her thoughts on this and lashed out at how, as actors, they are not treated as human beings with emotions.

She went on to talk about how there has to be rules in journalism and that blind items should be banned because such gossip and frivolous speculation spread quickly and deeply affects some people. She says that the toxic idea of “Ladke nahi rote“, “Be a man” also needs to stop and that everyone should tend to their emotions and seek help if anything is troubling them. Seems like she is hinting that these toxic patterns may be what pushed Sushant to take the decision he did.

Have a look at her post:

This is something that everyone should ponder on. Sending lots of love and light to you, Kriti!

Good Newwz also stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani in lead roles. It revolves around two couples who are trying to have a baby through IVF and the confusions that ensue.

Diljit is also gearing up for his new album, ‘Goat‘. The actor took to his Instagram to share the news, and I surely can’t wait for it!

A few days after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden demise, the news of a film inspired by his life and career has emerged. The movie has been titled ‘Suicide Or Murder? – A star was lost’. It is set to be produced by Vijay Shekhar Gupta and directed by Shamik Maulik.

In a report by Indian Express, the producer shared:

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide came as a shock to all of us, but it is not new. Many actors who come to the industry to chase their dreams of making it big here end up not getting work. Many take this route, and some keep struggling all their lives. So, we wanted to tell a story of how actors from small towns who don’t have godfathers in Bollywood struggle.

He also said that the movie is not going to be a biopic of the late actor, but will be inspired by his life and career.

The film is not Sushant’s biopic. It is inspired by his life and work. We are writing the script. It will be based on thorough research of the star’s life, and we will be talking to a lot of other actors who are considered ‘outsiders’ in the industry. Star kids will not be a part of this film. We will be working with a rising star who is not a star kid. We should be able to start shooting in a few months.

Have a look at the poster of the film here:

He also informed the publication that no star kids will be roped in for the film and that they will be working with emerging actors. The filming of the movie is expected to start in a few months.

1. Sonal Chauhan

Sonal Chauhan looks simple and classic in an all-white matching set. Firstly, her high-waist leggings are a perfect choice for when you have a lot of intense movement. This saves you from the awkward adjusting every round. Secondly, these are a flattering fit on any body shape! A white yoga look is a vibe in itself and Sonal is the perfect example of it.

2. Mira Rajput Kapoor

An outfit choice such as Mira Rajput Kapoor’s might be the comfiest style inspiration for those zen yogis. Mira has gone for a black, long-sleeved top and leggings in a breathable material that allows for maximum flexibility. To add a pop of colour to this otherwise monochromatic look, she has opted for a vibrant sports bra and matched the same to her Crocs. Additionally, this ensemble is a more appropriate selection for those more conservative about showing skin.

3. Yasmin Karachiwala

The master of everything fitness, Yasmin Karachiwala has some of the best workout gear I have seen. Her technicolour, holographic effect matching set gives us that unicorn feel we all need to get us through some intense stretches. This trendy look is one to show off on the ‘gram, Don’t forget to notice Yasmin’s stylish braids that complement her entire look!

Take a cue from Rakulpreet Singh on how to mix and match some of your favourite bits without it looking random. Going for a more practical look, she has donned a gunjee with super deep armholes layered over a sports bra paired with functional leggings. This style also works well for when you are going for more acrobatic poses like Rakulpreet. Moreover, if you are uncomfortable working out in a sports bra alone, adding a tank top will keep you covered.

5. Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif can sizzle in any outfit, and she continues to do so in this Reebok x Victoria Beckham Collection. She is sporting an angular design, crop-top in desert brown, along with matching geometric design tights, which creates a snug and sleek silhouette. Even though it is fitted, this look is engineered for ultimate comfort and can be worn for more than just yoga!

6. Jacqueline Fernandez

To keep cool during a hot yoga session, Jacqueline Fernandez’s choice of Hudson shorts seems like the right pick. Showing off her toned legs, arms and abs, Jacqueline looks like goals in her vibrant printed high-neck sports bra and lightweight printed shorts. Moreover, opting to wear loose-fit shorts is a great way to beat the heat if you work up a sweat.

7. Anushka Sharma

Yoga seems to be the secret to Anushka Sharma’s glow! If you are looking to keep your outfit simple but still stand out, get inspired by Anushka’s choice of adding a neon pop of colour. While her ¾ flex leggings are pretty standard, the bright yellow Puma sports bra adds a fashionable touch.

8. Pernia Qureshi Gilani

Take a break from your mundane yoga attire, and spruce it up with fun prints like Pernia Qureshi Gilani! We are obsessed with her strappy camo print sports bra with corresponding military green, high-waist leggings. The metallic finish on her leggings makes for a striking look and you will be sure to forget about all that sweat!

9. Janhvi Kapoor

The paparazzi’s favourite post-gym girl, we can count on Janhvi Kapoor to show us the latest athleisure trends. An unconventional, yet modern look, Janhvi has gone for white, bicycle shorts paired with a simple black crop-top. The crop-top can be worn during your yoga session if you need an extra layer, or else it acts as a stylish cover-up when you are out. Additionally, like Janhvi, go for a colourful sports bra beneath to elevate your sporty-chic look further!

10. Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Yoga queen Shilpa Shetty Kundra shows us how to make a statement. Although the colour of her attire is a classic charcoal grey, the style of her top is enough to grab your attention. Sonu Nigam and Bhushan Kumar (Source: Instagram | @sonunigamofficial @bhushankumar)

It was only recently when singer Sonu Nigam posted a vlog speaking about the wrongdoings in the Indian music industry. The vlog was in relation to the current furore in Bollywood due to the sudden demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput by suicide. The singer claimed that the industry is only run by two companies and they are the ones who decide who should sing and who shouldn’t. And now, he has taken to his social media to post another video where he is seen warning T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar against defaming him.

Sonu Nigam titled the video “Laaton ke MAFIA baaton se nahi maante“.

Have a look at his video:

Speaking in Hindi the singer said,“Bhushan Kumar, now I have to mention your name. And now, you deserve being addressed without respect. You have messed with the wrong person,”

Do you remember the time when you would come to my home requesting me, ‘brother record an album for me. Brother, record Deewana for me. Brother, introduce me to Smita Thackeray and Bal Thackeray. Save me from Abu Salem. Abu Salem is abusing me, do you remember? Don’t mess with me, I am warning you.

He adds:

Do you remember, Marina Kanwar? I don’t know why they opted out, but the media knows how the mafia works. I still have that video with me. Now if you mess with me, I will upload that video on my YouTube channel. So don’t mess with me.

Responding to the video, Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Khosla Kumar posted a series of stories on her Instagram where she slammed Sonu Nigam. She said, “Today it’s all about who can run a good campaign… I’m even seeing people being able to sell lies and deceits with their strong campaigns.. #SonuNigam such kind of people know how to play with the minds of the audience… God save our world!!!”

She continued in the next story and added—

Sonu Nigam Ji T-Series ne aapko industry mein break diya,, apko aage badaya .. agar aapko itni hi khundas thi Bhushan se toh phele kyun nahi bole.. Aaj publicity ke liye kyon kar rahe hai.. aapke pitaji ke khud maine itne videos direct kiye jiseke liye voh humesha itne shukar guzar rehte the,, But some people are thankless #achasiladiyatunemerepyaarka.

8 Times Shraddha Kapoor Looked Regal In Her Indian Wear

Shraddha Kapoor | (Source: Instagram | @tanghavri)

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Shraddha Kapoor this year at Lakme Fashion Week and apart from the obvious things. Like how beautiful and fit she is, she’s also got this wonderful childlike wonder about her. Sometimes I think she’s not too different from the characters she’s played on-screen. She’s chatty, bubbly and completely down to earth. Of course, she’s amongst the well-dressed celebs of Bollywood. Tanya Ghavri, ace celeb stylist has been styling her for a while now and has been doing fantastic work with her.

I’ve mostly always spotted Shraddha in western wear and I truly wish I had seen more of her in some Indian wear last year. But when I looked back at the archives I did manage to dig up a few of my favourite looks the celebrity has sported. Each of these looks is completely different and I love how they paint her personality in a different light each time.

Here’s a look at Shraddha Kapoor acing her Indian wear:

1) In a lehenga

Ok this Anita Dongre number is literally my favourite and let me tell you why? While most lehengas look amazing, I just always feel super conscious about that lil bit of my tummy showing. This kurta style top just makes me feel more secure with the idea of a lehenga. I love the floral appliqué details and the keyhole neckline as well. Special details and nothing to in your face. Also, isn’t this colour just amazing?

2) In a sharara

This ivory sharara from Tarun Tahiliani just makes Shraddha look so lean and tall. The semi-sheer sleeve, the yoke like details on the neckline all add to the wonder of this look. I love how the sharara pants look like they’ve been pleated.

3) In a saree

Love colour blocking when it comes to a saree. The green silk blouse and the vibrance of the purple saree just seem to be dancing in harmony. The orangish gold border matches the bronze effect on her jewellery so well too. Shraddha plays the part of Marathi mulgi quite well with the hair pulled back in a bun with gajra and the tiny black bindi. Gotta love the simplicity and elegance of this look.

4) In a co-ord set

I count this Saaksha and Kinni look to be part of Indian wear because of the beautiful abstract print and the style of the outfit takes after a lehenga. The sweetheart neckline, spaghetti strap crop-top with a slim, pleated maxi-skirt look incredible on Shraddha. I would imagine wearing a look of this sort to a friend’s mehendi ceremony. It’s light and refreshing and would stand out in a sea of Indian clothes. I would do a side braid and pair it with jhumkis and a long necklace.

5) In a monochrome lehenga

I love the fact that Indian wear is most colourful, but the best part is sometimes the subtlety and simplicity it can also achieve simultaneously. Shraddha’s Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga comes set with a beautifully embroidered blouse with cap sleeves. The flouncy skirt matches the scattered embroidery on the organza dupatta. I do wish she had done a more muted lip and pulled her hair back into a low ponytail to give those earrings it’s winning moment.

6) In an indo-western dhoti skirt

Oh la la, an all-black look has to hands down be one of my favourite looks from this lot. The sequin, embroidered strappy blouse with an organza cape. I love the sheerness of that jacket, it adds that sexy touch. You see skin but you know it’s covered too. I also love the sequin hem detailing on the cape, it adds a wonderful texture and a beautiful detail to an otherwise perfect look. The pleated, dhoti skirt is clearly ready-to-wear and doesn’t need any draping. The hair an makeup here does Shraddha absolute justice. I might have gone a different route and paired colourful shoes with this look but that’s just me.

7) In a traditional lehenga

I’m not the greatest fan of a traditional lehenga I find that there’s something very excessive about it. I do however enjoy the gradient of the pinks going from light to dark with a whole lot of sequin embroidery. You will also notice floral appliqué making the skirt look quite 3 dimensional. The light pink blouse matches the top half of the skirt giving it the perfect ombré effect.

8) In dhoti harem pants

This feels too risqué for me but I love how Shraddha looks in red. Thick straps in beige with her sweetheart neckline bustier match the detailing on the thick waistband of her pants. These harem, dhoti pants look like quite a cool look for a dance number. The maang tikka is quite the cool addition to her whole look, no?

Which one of these looks do you like most? Let me know in the comments below.

‘Sushant’s Death Definitely Sort Of Pushed Me To Speak Up’- Abhay Deol On Bollywood’s Lobbying Culture

Abhay Deol (Source: Instagram | @abhaydeol)

Sushant Singh Rajput‘s sudden demise by suicide has created a furore in Bollywood. It has re-ignited the discussion of nepotism, favouritism and lobby culture in the entertainment industry. Many artists came forward to share their struggles on social media. It was recently when filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap slammed Salman Khan and his family for sabotaging his career. Similarly, actress Raveena Tandon spoke her mind on dirty politics on Twitter. And now, actor Abhay Deol has been speaking about the same on his Instagram feed.

If you have noticed Abhay Deol’s Instagram feed, you must have seen the actor putting up pictures of his earlier works and sharing a story behind all these films. Interestingly, all the post includes a common hashtag which reads #makingwhatbollywouldnt.

Speaking to HT the actor said—

Sushant’s death definitely sort of pushed me to speak up a little bit. But, this isn’t my first time speaking up. In the past, I’ve taken on the biggest. I’m sorry it took someone’s death to wake everybody up. But I’m glad that people have taken note and they want to be heard. They’re asking for a change not just from the outside of the industry but even from the inside.

Talking about his Instagram posts he said—

I felt this was a good way to bring attention to these movies. Being non-formulaic, they didn’t have enough funds for marketing or a big release. So, not a lot of people are aware of them. I believe they are good and that would be entertaining even today.

Substantiating on the catchy hashtag, Abhay said—

The ones I selected for this particular hashtag are the ones that were the most difficult to make and even tougher to release.

However, Abhay’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara post garnered a lot of attention. The actor wrote about the covert and overt ways in which people lobby against you in the Hindi film industry.

The final autopsy report stated—

There were no struggle marks or external injuries on Sushant Singh Rajput’s body. His nails were clean.

So far 23 people have been questioned including Sushant’s sisters and father, Rhea Chakraborty, Mukesh Chhabra among others. In addition to that, the police also made clear that the building CCTVs were working fine, and his dog, Fudge was in another room and is very much alive.

Karisma Kapoor Proves That She’s A Pro At Ethnic Dressing

Karisma Kapoor | (Source: Instagram | @therealkarismakapoor)

I’ve been meaning to discuss Karisma Kapoor for a while now because I’ve noticed an upward graph in her fashion sensibility. Truthfully, Karisma was always ahead of the curve even back then. She was an A-list actress and always dressed the part in her movies. Her costumes were current and relevant to the trends of the time. I obsessed over her looks from Dhulan Hum Le Jayenge for years after the movie aired. And I bet a ton of you like me looked to her for style inspo. I bet you probably even went to your tailor and showed him a pic of her outfit you wanted to get tailored.

The common thread to acknowledge in her style is that she looks like her youthful self but with more a sophisticated and polished vibe. I guess we have her stylists to thank. She often oscillates between Tanya Ghavri and Eshaa Amiin and both of these stylists have given her some unforgettable looks that seem to do justice to her personality. I curiously looked through her profile and saw that she’s worn some really stylish ethnic wear and I realised they’d make a rainbow if placed in a certain way. I think I was most excited by this idea especially since it is Pride month. Scroll on to see Karisma’s rainbow-coloured ethnic looks.

Here’s a look at some of my favourite ethnic looks from Karisma Kapoor:

1) Indigo Sequin Saree

Gotta love how this indigo, sequin saree looks against Karisma’s skin. She looks like porcelain and the hair and makeup complement her look effectively as well. This is a common Manish Malhotra number that all the top B-town stars have sported at some point or the other.

2) Blue Anarkali

The pulled back low-bun seems to be a look Karisma likes to repeat often. Besides, it is actually a great look for ethnic wear because one can then show-off their gorgeous ethnic earrings. The gold detailing on the neckline, dupatta and hemline look so well matched to her skin tone. Of course, this has to be a Sabyasachi creation because look at that meticulous attention to detail.

3) Green Asymmetrical Dress

Anamika Khanna makes some widely exquisite Indo-western wear. Sometimes I wonder how her genius mind puts together colour combos and styles. Karisma’s one-shoulder dress with a tiered hemline is seamlessly paired with this black, sleeveless, indo-western jacket. The fuzzy texture on the jacket with tiny, triangular pom-pom detailing is exquisite and defo something to make note of. Love her high pony and cinched in waistline.

4) Green Sherwani Jacket & Cigarette Trousers

Karisma looks royal and grand in this mint green sherwani style jacket. The all-over paisley print and detailing along the neckline is to die for. I love how it somewhat connects to the colour of the pants and works so well in tandem with the entire outfit. The blood-red cigarette pants fit Karisma like a dream come true. The only thing I dislike about this look is her hairstyle. Otherwise, major props to Anamika Khanna again for another outstanding look.

5) Mustard-Yellow Silk Brocade Salwar Suit

Honestly, I just randomly scroll through Payal Khandwala‘s page thinking, can some people I know get married, just so that I can buy one of her magical pieces. Love her, love her aesthetic and everything about the way she designs. Look at this gorgeous colour, and look at how it makes Karisma glow. The mustard-yellow kurta with bronze design work is paired with a lehenga style skirt. The silk brocade number is paired seamlessly with a sheer dupatta with a silk border. Uff, too much love.

6) Red Empire-Waist Kurta With Patiala Pants

How gorgeous does this simple red number look? Karisma looks pristine in this red Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg outfit. The empire waistline, the high neck, the silhouette, the sleeves just all seem to be elevating the look of this outfit. The spatial style pants also look great on her with flattering gold mojris. What I like about this look most is that print., don’t you think?

7) Orange Cotton Saree

This tangerine saree from Anavila feels so youthful and retro. There’s just something about the pleats and the drape of a linen saree that makes it such a must-have for Indians. The juxtaposition of the saree against Harrods in the background is just incredible, I feel. The dangly earrings and the potli are the perfect matches for the vibe this outfit has.

8) Pink Silk Brocade Saree

Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg is another label that I constantly keep my eye on. Maybe it’s the fact that I love brocade and don’t really own anything in brocade. I love this monochrome, pink saree that Karisma sports. Right from the border to that buttery, silk ¾ sleeve blouse. Even the jewellery is so well-paired with this look.

9) White Kurta Jacket Set

Antar-Agni by Ujjwal Dubey makes some genius androgynous clothes. Karisma looks fab in these off-white, calf-length trousers paired with sneakers. I think I’m digging the whole mix of Indian with western here. The conservative, high-neck,  kurta with pockets is paired with a longline jacket. This addition really takes this look to the next level. Also, that red lip is just so perfect for this colour outfit.

Which one of Karisma’s look do you like the most? Let me know in the comments below.

Nushrat Bharucha’s Outfit Isn’t Monsoon-Approved But We Love It!

Nushrat Bharucha

I bet you’ll agree with me on this, the lockdown and self-quarantine have pushed us all to a point where comfort is a constant in our lives and in our outfits. I suppose we’ve all practically lost track of the number of days it has been since our daily hustle-bustle came to a halt. And since then, slouchy pyjamas and oversized tees have been our uniforms, amirite? I’m loving this lounge-wear life and hoping for comfort to be an important element in the future of fashion. That being said, I recently spotted Nushrat Bharucha at a dubbing studio in a relaxed outfit which was also a risky choice given the Mumbai monsoons.

Scroll ahead for all the details of her outfit:

Nushrat Bharucha

For her quick work trip in the city, the actor did not steer clear from comfort and also ensured that her look was eye-catchy. Nushrat donned a pristine, all-white kurta set for her day out in Mumbai. Adding flare to her look, the actress teamed her dainty kurta with a palazzo. The round-neck kurta with a minuscule v-cut featured a few mirrored beads that added a much-needed oomph to the outfit. Given that Mumbai and monsoons together aren’t the best scenarios for a white outfit, I have to say, I love the actor’s risky fashion move.

She teamed her outfit with two crucial accessories of the present day—a mask and gloves. A brown sling bag and a pair of white flip-flops were her two other essential accessories. Flaunting her skin, Nushrat opted for a no-makeup look and left her envy-inducing locks open in the beauty department. As a sucker for all-white kurta sets, the actor’s outfit is definitely one I can’t get over!

What do you think of her non-monsoon-approved outfit? Tell me in the comments below!

And don’t forget to follow @missmalinifashion on Instagram to never miss a style tip!
